Last spring Hannah was selected to be a part of the Extended Learning Program or ELP at school, it's what our school calls the talented and gifted program. One of the things that she was most excited about was CANstrustruction. Her school along with two others in the district came up with a theme and a plan for building a sculpture from non-perishable food items. They had to find the right kind of can for each build and they had a budget to stay within. The theme was
We CAN help CANoe?
One school built a house, another a canoe and her school built a skyscraper. They covered the bottom with water bottles to represent the floods from last summer. They would have liked for the skyscraper to be taller, but stability was an issue and also the cost of so many cans. I got to go with her and it was such a fun event.
